Solid First Effort
I'm 61 and live near Portland, Oregon. I like movies, but am not a film student; the term makes me ill.
I wanted to know what he was made of, so Blake sent me a copy of his first movie, "A Simple Midwest Story."
Over the years, I've watched it several times. It's better than it should be, what made by a bunch of rural NW Missouri kids on first try.
What he did was reflect a life I lived on the farm for 20 years only we didn't kill anyone, but some of the hands deserved it. Life on a farm is different. You spend a lot of time alone. Decisions are often based on individual judgment.
On retrospect, I'd only give it a 7 as a film.
